In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3

Winter Fun

The boys are visiting for the weekend. Pop-Pop took them for a ride on the push mower ...(fear not...motor was not running)...What else do you do for winter entertainment when there is no snow to play in! :)

Dough-NUT

I made doughnuts yesterday for the very first time!

I was a little nervous about it at first .....frying in all that HOT oil!!

But I had no trouble at all, everything went along smoothly. The entire process took all day.

The results were ....well lets just say "delicious"!

Below this post is a link to the recipe that I used. The only ingredient that I did not use was lemon rind. I didn't have any and did not want to make a run to the store just for that.

I love doughnuts and made such a piggy out of myself! So, this morning I sent what was left to the office with Vern.

Today I need to walk and workout! :)

Have a blessed day!

Winter Walk

Hard to believe it's January 31, and the temp outside was 57!

So today Rusty and I took advantage of the perfect weather and went for a nice long walk in the woods. We saw lots of interesting things going on!

There were deer tracks in the mud along the creek's edge.

I water bug paddeling his way upstream......

And a air bubble floating on the service of the water! I love the reflection of the trees in the water!

The moss was so green and lush....

It's hard to imagine, but when we get heavy rains, this creek overflows it's banks and becomes a very dangerous place to be near!

The stinkey skunk cabbage is always a sure sign that Spring is just around the corner!

It is rather pretty as it begins to poke out of the soil!

The Ferns are getting ready too!

I found some wild rose bushes that are taking off!

And of course there are always dandelions around no matter what the weather conditions! But today I didn't view them as weeds, I just enjoyed their color!

Hope your day was blessed!

Ahhh Choo!

The garbage can was being filled and the dust was flying in my little office/craft room this weekend!
It's just down right embarrassing....but it's the truth!
This room has been my "catch-all" room since the fall decorations came down and were replaced with Christmas decor.
One of my New Year's resolutions has been to go through my closets, cupboards and drawers and get organized. I have a ton of paperwork and junk to go through, that I have not touched in the six years that we have lived in this house.....So that means one thing to me...I DON'T NEED IT ANYMORE!
But in the next breath, it's very hard for me to let go of things that I just might need in the future.
Oh Lord...give me strength to do this big job!

Have a blessed day!

A walk in the woods

Don't you just love to hear the sound of the leaves crunching and swooshing under your feet as you walk along! It's a sound heard in the fall that just makes me smile.

The colors are so beautiful!

There are always some interesting things to see along the way.

The woods are lovely dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And I have miles to go before I sleep.

.....................I love that poem by Robert Frost.

I have not blogged in such a long time. I have been busy painting our dining room and hope to have it ready in time for Thanksgiving.
Last Saturday, my girlfriend Nancy and I went for a Soup and Walk at Adkins Arboretum. It is a beautiful 400 acre area of streams, woodlands and meadows. After your informational guided tour through the woods, you are served a delicious lunch consisting of soup, salad and dessert. All 100% yummy and nutritious! They always try to coordinate the lunch with the appropriate seasonal colors of the woods and meadows. I should have taken a picture of the meal. Next time I will do that.

May your day be blessed!
