In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3

New Day Dawning

This morning's sunrise was gorgeous!  It's so hard to believe that tonight is New Year's Eve......this year has flown.  This has been a tough year.... a year of stretching, a year of endurance, a year of tears and joy combined, a year of spiritual growth and reflection, a year of revelation.....and I wouldn't trade a moment of it for anything..... because God is Love, God  is Good, God is Faithful and there is nothing that has happened to me or my loved ones that He has not First allowed to be filtered through His hands.  He is Sovereign, He knows whats best for me and those I love and I trust Him with EVERYTHING!
2013 ~  Happy New Year to all!
Not my will Lord...but ONLY Yours be done!
Blessings,
Love Terry

By The Light....

I took this picture two nights ago as the moon was rising in the evening sky.    It was the kind of moon that just takes your breath away when you first catch sight of it.    Beautiful!
Well, it's the beginning of Labor Day weekend.  It's so hard to believe that the summer is fading away.  When I am outside and I stop and pay attention to what's going on around me, I notice that my vegetable garden is yielding less and less,  the hummingbirds have been aggressively feasting at the feeder in preparation for their long journey south, the crickets have been chirping loudly, and it's dark outside by 8p.m.   :(
I really hate to see summer slip away!
Blessings,
Terry

Canning Some Garden Goodness

One day last week I had  a refresher lesson in canning some summertime goodies.
My girlfriend and her Dad can jalapenos and peppers every summer.
It's a precious father and daughter team that have been doing this together for years.   I was delighted to lend a helping hand and share in their memory making.  I brought over some peppers and jalapenos from my little garden, but these two baskets are from Diane's HUGE garden.  She told me that these two baskets were only about 1/3 of her peppers from the garden!  Wow!
Here I am am stirring the syrup mixture and bringing it to a boil before it's added to the peppers.   We had to be careful when handling these peppers.   If you touch your eyes or lips it burns like crazy for hours!
                               I love the beautiful colors!
Here is Diane and Paul her father removing the jars from the boiling kettle.  Paul is removing a broken jar from the kettle.  Several jars broke over the course of the morning.   We weren't sure why this happened.......... maybe we packed them to tightly and did not leave enough room for expansion.........  who knows?
Anyway, I had a delightful time in the kitchen that morning with this dynamic duo!

Hope you have a blessed day!

A Little R & R

Ahhh.....it's our get away time again.....and there is something to be said about that first cup of Joe in the morning, especially  when your on vacation!

Just to sit and relax on the balcony looking at the ocean and meditating on the goodness and majesty of God.   The world is just waking up.....the seagulls are off in the distance crying out....some people are already out walking the beach ....and as for me .....well,  I am just sittin back and taking it all in!  I think I will go and grab another cup of coffee!
Hope you have a blessed day too!

Spring Lambs

On Tuesday, my girlfriend Diane asked me to ride along with her to another farm to pick up three baby lambs that were orphaned.
Her truck would not start, so we had to use my SUV.   Two of the lambs were caged in the back and Diane held one of them in her arms, for the drive home.  She will be bottle feeding them for many weeks to come.

The estate farm  that these lambs were born on is just beautiful!

The grounds were very interesting and meticulously groomed!

Everywhere you looked there were peaceful views and so much beauty to behold! ......... Sigh   :)

Have a blessed day!

Held a little sweetness in my hands yesterday!

I really don't hate Mondays.  But this little pup's sweet face and pink tongue sticking out at me just "begged" for that caption!  :)
Hope your day is blessed!

Blueberry Scones

We had a Ladies Retreat planning meeting here on Tuesday night.  I needed something "Yummy" to go along with coffee and tea.  I have never made scones from scratch, but decided it might be worth the risk.

The dough was a little tricky to work with and I tried really hard not to panic as the clock ticked closer and closer to our meeting time.  After much fumbling, into the oven they went!
I cooked them for the maximum time called for and was disappointed that they came out a  little over done.  I really should have pulled them out about 5 minutes sooner.

I plated them anyway and drizzled a little powdered sugar frosting on the top.  They looked so pretty  and everyone enjoyed them.   The next day they tasted even better and the flavors were more intense!   I will definitely be making these again.
The recipe can be found at: http://homecookinginmontana.blogspot.com/2010/03/simple-blueberry-sconesamericas-test.html

Sweet Desserts and Puppies

We had dinner Friday night at a friend's home and she made these adorable miniature desserts. They were delicious!

And for evening entertainment, her dog which is a Black Lab, was giving birth in the same room as we all dined together! I was so excited! I have never seen puppies being born. What a treat!
Now I can check that off my bucket list! :)

This is not a picture of all of them...but when she was finally finished she had given birth to 6 tan and 3 black, beautiful Lab puppies.
So precious!
Have a blessed day!

A Beautiful Marriage Post

I read a readers post this morning from another blog... MckMama

This is such a wonderful letter written regarding the sacred vow of marriage that I thought I would share it. Marriage can be very difficult at times. It's not always a bed of roses. Who hasn't had moments where you feel like you should just give up, because it almost seems easier to do so.
But we MUST choose to FORGIVE and LOVE.

A Letter to My Children About Marriage
This letter, written by Kelly Crawford, is worth reading.(http://www.ingodsimage.com/?p=8575)
Dear Children,
Should the Lord give you the good gift of a husband or wife, and I hope He does, there are a few things I want you to know. Things that you may not hear from anyone else, and certainly not on TV or other media. Sadly, your brothers and sisters in Christ may not even tell you.
Marriage, sweet little people, is not for the purpose of your happiness. Happy as I want you to be and hope you will be, you must yet understand that marriage is God’s design and His purposes must be pursued in order for you to be truly happy. His end is holiness and He will use all things in a life devoted to Him to fulfill that end.
To my girls:
Marry a man whose first pursuit is Christ. After that, he is not hard to please. Admire him, cheer him on and show gratitude, and he will fall over himself trying to please you. Smile often, speak well of him always, and do whatever necessary to try and maintain a pleasant mood about you so that it transfers to your home, making it a place where he and your children love to be.
You’ll have bad days of course, crying days even, and that’s when you go to your bedroom, kneel on the floor and beg the Lord to carry you. Then get up, get a fresh perspective (crayons will come off the wall), and try again. Above all else, make a home.
To my boys:
Marry a woman whose first pursuit is Christ. After that, she may be hard to please only if you don’t know “the secret”. What is that? I’m glad you asked. The secret to pleasing your wife is to make her feel safe and treasured. You may have to move out of your comfort zone to do this at times. She won’t always readily translate the oil change to love, though it means that. But let me give you a “secret question”—a question you need to ask her often. It’s not just in the asking, though. Be sure to focus your eyes on hers, maybe even touch her shoulder or face, and then ask: “What’s on your mind these days?” And then be ready to listen. She wants you to draw her out. She will perceive this as your protection over the matters of her heart. Tenderness, listening, protection. That’s what she wants.
To you all:
If your wife or husband does something really stupid, forgive. If they do it again, forgive again. Forgiveness must be the propelling force in your lives each day. Dwell on the strengths, push out thoughts of their weaknesses. Take every thought captive—choose to love.
Here’s that part you are not going to hear often:
If you find yourself “not happy,” having lost attraction, disinterested, etc., you are not permitted to even think about a divorce. If you find yourselves arguing more and more, don’t think for a minute that “the children will be better off out of this,” because they won’t.
The vows you took on your wedding day were not suggestions. They were covenant vows, before a holy God, family and friends, to stay with this person the rest of your life, even if you don’t feel like it. You swore a solemn oath and if you can’t live up to it, don’t get married. Decide up front that your marriage is irrevocable. There is far more motivation for getting along if your “marriage house” has no door.
Do not share intimate thoughts or feelings with anyone of the opposite sex. Do not find yourself alone for any length of time with such either.
Divorce is not a “private option.” It will affect multiple families for many generations. When you “separate what God has joined” you permanently injure far more than just yourself.
Guard your marriage as fiercely as you would guard your own life. Treat your spouse as an extension of your flesh, just as God sees you. Treat your spouse like other family members. You know, “you gotta love ‘em, they’re the only family you’ve got.”
I want you to be happy, I surely do. But I will pray for you to be holy.

Springs Arrival

I just can't believe it! We are finally moving into Springtime weather this week. The temps are suppose to rise into the high 60's!
This morning there was a very heavy frost on Vern's car windows. I thought the pattern that the frost made on his rear window was really interesting....kinda like a glacier!

When Rusty and I went for a walk this morning, I spotted the first blooming crocus out by the mailbox! Made me smile from ear to ear!

Spring is in the Air!

This pair of Blue Birds were singing the sweetest little love song to each other as we walked by.
Maybe this week I will have a chance to start getting my hands dirty again and clean out some of the flower beds.
Hmmm....the spirit is willing but oh the flesh is weak! :)

Have a blessed day!

Moon Shine

Very early yesterday morning I spotted the moon coming up through the trees. I grabbed my camera and hurried outside into the bitter cold to get this shot. It was a site to see! This is one of the many advantages of being an early riser! ;)

As the moon rose higher in the sky, far above the tree tops it took on this soft glow. What a way to start my day!

Hope you have a blessed day!

Love and Chocolate

This morning Vern gave me a beautiful card and a box of chocolates for Valentines Day! He is always so loving and thoughtful! I have already had two pieces of the chocolate this morning and can't stop thinking about more! Oh my!
My will power level is officially at it's all time low today! ;)

Have a Blessed and Happy Valentines Day!

Dough-NUT

I made doughnuts yesterday for the very first time!

I was a little nervous about it at first .....frying in all that HOT oil!!

But I had no trouble at all, everything went along smoothly. The entire process took all day.

The results were ....well lets just say "delicious"!

Below this post is a link to the recipe that I used. The only ingredient that I did not use was lemon rind. I didn't have any and did not want to make a run to the store just for that.

I love doughnuts and made such a piggy out of myself! So, this morning I sent what was left to the office with Vern.

Today I need to walk and workout! :)

Have a blessed day!

Winter Walk

Hard to believe it's January 31, and the temp outside was 57!

So today Rusty and I took advantage of the perfect weather and went for a nice long walk in the woods. We saw lots of interesting things going on!

There were deer tracks in the mud along the creek's edge.

I water bug paddeling his way upstream......

And a air bubble floating on the service of the water! I love the reflection of the trees in the water!

The moss was so green and lush....

It's hard to imagine, but when we get heavy rains, this creek overflows it's banks and becomes a very dangerous place to be near!

The stinkey skunk cabbage is always a sure sign that Spring is just around the corner!

It is rather pretty as it begins to poke out of the soil!

The Ferns are getting ready too!

I found some wild rose bushes that are taking off!

And of course there are always dandelions around no matter what the weather conditions! But today I didn't view them as weeds, I just enjoyed their color!

Hope your day was blessed!
